How many people would vote for Ron Paul now?

Monday, September 21st, 2009

United States House of Representatives Statement on HR 1424 October 3, 2008 Madame Speaker, only in Washington could a bill demonstrably worse than its predecessor be brought back for another vote and actually expect to gain votes. That this bailout was initially defeated was a welcome surprise, but the power-brokers in Washington and on Wall [...]

Will having high credit limits hurt me when I try to get a mortgage later on?

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

My credit score was in the "excellent" category the last time I checked it. I have a pretty decent credit history. No major loans or anything are on my credit report, but just major credit cards. I have 6 credit cards with a total combined credit limit of about k. The total charges on them [...]

What is a typical income requirement for a mortgage? 4x? Also, no initial cost mortgages, worth it?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

I’m looking to find out what banks would "typically" require for income for a mortgage. Also, if they would look at gross pay or net pay, what debts they look for to calculate it, and if they include home-owner’s insurance in the estimate of a monthly payment. Also, my wife and I have student loans, [...]

Can someone explain this in an easier way.?

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

I don’t really get this statement: Excessive lending under loosened underwriting standards, which was a hallmark of the United States housing bubble, resulted in a very large number of sub prime mortgages. These high risk loans had been perceived to be mitigated by securitization. Rather than mitigating the risk, however, this strategy appears to have [...]

Will the liberal impulse to remove the consequences of reality for our citizens lead to an end of U.S. success?

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Two Examples: Example 1 ————————– In the 1970s & 80s many American labor unions (most notably UAW) tried to win a guarantee of wage increases that were immune to market fluctuations. Around that same time, Toyota and Honda plants offered profit sharing (i.e. wage increases that were tied to success and failure of business). The [...]
